Thadus Fred Reed, age 40 of Forest City died Wednesday, August 9, 2017. Thad was born on May 31, 1977 in Cleveland County and was a son of Levonna Wells Reed of Forest City and the late Frederick Hicks Reed who died in 1989. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and a graduate of Chase High School, Class of 1995. Thad was also a graduate of Western Carolina University where he earned a degree in both Mechanical and Electrical engineering and was the owner and operator of Reed Engineering in Forest City.
In his spare time Thad enjoyed so many things in life. He enjoyed restoring classic automobiles, hunting, motorcycle riding, weight lifting and working in his shop with his German Shepherd, Daisy. Recently he received his certification as an open water scuba diver. Thad had a tremendous heart for others and always found fullfilment in helping others.
Thad was the grandson of the late Robert L. Wells and Vonnie Crowder Wells, and the late Robert Martin Reed and Ola Mae McDaniel Reed.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Krista C. Reed, a son, Jake Ellis of Forest City, two daughters, Morgan Reed of Forest City and Neely Reed of Ellenboro, and brother, Ronald Kevin Kallay of Rutherfordton.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 13 at four o'clock in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Reverend Matt Mills and the Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating. Visitation from 2 until 3:45 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made in his memory to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 397 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Forest City, North Carolina 28043 or the Community Pet Center, 861 Piney Ridge Road, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.

You was a great friend from Harris school days till high school and after. Thad you will be truly missed my friend. There are so many memories growing up together. Will miss stopping by just to talk about life and our kids just catching up on things. You had one of the biggest hearts know to man and caring and helping the people of the county. Rest easy my friend open up your wings and fly high.

Thad words can't be said to say how good a person you are always nice to me help do my welding for me on stuff I couldn't do ,enjoyed the brother time together working on your bike you was building just wish you could have said something maybe I could have helped out in returning the favor going to miss you brother RIP MY FRIEND.
