Charles Freeman "Chuck" Jordan, age 87, of Mill Spring, NC, died, Sunday, September 24, 2017, at his residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Clyde Jordan and Maggie Sue Edwards. Chuck served in the Air Force where he was a flight instructor in B-25 medium bombers at Reese Air Force base in Texas. After leaving the the Air Force he had a career as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Agency. Upon retiring from the FAA he went back to school and earned an Associates Degree in animal husbandry. Chuck then moved back to his home of Polk County and raised cattle on his farm in Mill Spring. It is there on his beloved farm, that he spent the later years of his life with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theda Dunn Jordan and a sister, Cleo Jordan. Survivors include his son, Charles Stephen Jordan, daughter-in-law, Alison Jordan, and grandson, Chance Robert Jordan of Santa Barbara, California, and his daughter, Mary Sue Jordan of Rutherfordton.
A memorial service will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning, Saturday, September 30, 2017, in The Forest City Church of the Nazarene, with the Reverend Dale Austin officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Memorials may be made to the Foothills Humane Society, 989 Little Mountain Road, Columbus, NC 28722.
