Jean P. Johnson, age 79, of Matheny Street, Forest City, died, Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Hospice House of Forest City. A native of Carter Co, TN, she was a daughter of the late Frank Presnell and Emma Hamby Presnell; retired professional seamstress with Doncaster Custom and member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Presnell, Dale Presnell, and two sisters, Frankie Bushy and Luster Meintz.
She was the wife of Thomas "Jr" Johnson, Jr., of the home, mother of Kimberly Roberson (Andy) of Forest City, Thomas Anthony "Tony" Johnson (Dan Boyett) of Charlotte, sister to Harry Presnell, Phyllis Howell, Brenda Robinson, Taffy Hoppes, Angie Voigt, grandmother of Josh Roberson (Candace) of Forest City, and great grandmother to Holly, Kaleb, Bethany, Paiten, and Riley Roberson, all of Forest City.
A graveside service will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning, Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Ron Setzer officiating. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 pm, Wednesday evening at The Padgett and King Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove UMC, 250 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC 28043 or Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. I was fortunate to have met this fine lady in 1976 by way of her husband Jr. and for a good number of years visited her home which always had an open door and a coffee or tea.I have been blessed to have met and known a lot of great people and a lot of Real Southern Ladies and Jean was and always will be one of the finest.Enjoy being with our Lord Jean and we'll see you soon.
