Steven Cohen

Steven Cohen, 37, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Friday, April 5, 2024. Steven was born August 17, 1986 and was the son of Barbara Cohen of Rutherfordton, NC. 

Steven was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also studied Hebrew. He worked as a medical laboratory technologist after graduation. 

Steven excelled in soccer all throughout his childhood and teen years and played for both The Premier League of Charlotte and The Greenville Football Club. He had a never-ending love of learning and was fluent in Spanish, Hebrew, and was teaching himself Russian. Steven had a great love of nature and cared for all living creatures no matter how small. He enjoyed walking and hiking with his beloved dog, Shadow. Steven loved his family and showed his love in many ways throughout his life. 

In addition to his mother, survivors include his brother, Joshua Cohen and wife, Leah, of Durham, NC; his sister Rachel Cohen and husband, Kevin, of Sicily, Italy; his nephews Zachary, Oliver, and Michael, and niece, Isabella, all of Sicily, Italy; his aunt, Jennifer Bradley, of Rutherfordton, NC; his uncles, Doug Bradley and wife, Millie, of Rutherfordton, NC and David Bradley and wife, Janett, of Rutherfordton, NC; and a number of cousins. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 2:00PM-4:00PM at Padgett & King Mortuary.
