Rev. Billy W. Stamey

Rev. Billy Wayne Stamey, 86, passed through death’s door into eternal life on March 7, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. Billy was a wonderful husband and an extraordinary father, grandfather (Pop), and great grandfather. He was a loving pastor and friend to those he was privileged to shepherd and befriend. His love for the Lord and his servant heart were evident throughout his life. He loved people and wanted them to know the savior of the world, Jesus.  Billy was preceded in death by his dad, Clarence (Bill) M. Stamey, his mom, Claressie Starnes Stamey, and brothers Robert, Gary, and Bobby.

He is survived by his loving wife Beth of 65 years, and his children, Chris of Rutherfordton, Angie Johnston (Don) of Ellenboro, Jo Oliver (Randy) of Rutherfordton, Matt (Natalie) of Rutherfordton, Susie Beville (John) of Columbia, SC;  grandchildren, Ashley (Conner), Blakeney, Maddox (Brianne), Griffin, Reece, Andrew, Joshua, Joseph, and Hannah;  great grands, Ellie, Briggs, and Johnnie Mae,  a sister, Dixie McDonald (John) of Ft. Myers, FL and sister-in-law, Jodie Stamey of Black Mountain, NC.  Billy will be deeply missed and joyfully remembered by those who knew him and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bethany Baptist Church on Sunday, March 10 at 3:00 pm with an informal gathering with family and friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P O Box 336, Forest City, NC  or the Missions Program of Bethany Baptist Church, 760 Bethany Church Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
