Barbara Anne Yorke, age 82 of Forest City, died Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Barbara was born on May 30, 1941 in Six, West Virginia and was a daughter of the late Edward Bus Stanley and Helen Edna Muncey Stanley. She was the Executive Secretary for the Prince William County Service Authority where she retired. She attended First Wesleyan Church of Forest City and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother as well as a pet parent to her beloved dogs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Yorke, Sr., who died in 2004, her brothers, Kenneth Stanley and Alvin Stanley, and her sister, Sue Stanley Fuller.
Survivors include her sons, James Darrell Yorke, Jr., and wife Caryn Suzanne of Ellenboro, and Joseph Alan Yorke and wife Rose Marie of Dale City, Virginia, her grandchildren, Alexis Collier, Darrell Joseph Yorke, Nicholas Allen Yorke, and Justin Elliott Yorke, as well as a great-grandchild, Kolton James Collier.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock on Sunday, April 7, 2024, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Eric Yelton officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o’clock prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment will be at a later date at the Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Virginia where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
